Bart Curtis, Head Football coach of the Cavemen, has been a Head coach for 19 years. He started coaching in 1985 as an assistant at LaSalle High School in South Bend. He then became the defensive coordinator for Washington High School from 1986 through 1989. In 1990, he was an assistant coach for New Prairie. He got his first Head coaching job at Maconaquah High school and was there for 6 years and won a conference championship. He then became the head coach at New Praire, and in his 11 year tenure won 2 sectionals, 1 regional championship and broke Jimtown’s 18 year 60 game winning streak who at that time was number 1 in the state. Coach Curtis came to Mishawaka in 2008 and led our cavemen in his second year to an NIC championship and Sectional championship in 2009. He also broke a 29 year streak that Penn had maintained over Mishawaka which related to 35 straight wins over Mishawaka and 153 NIC victories. Coach Curtis Coach of the year by; the South Bend Tribune, Jim Andrews Memorial, Region II 5A and the N.I.C.. He is currently the President of the Indiana Football Coaches Association (IFCA) as well as the Indiana Wishbone Association and has been named the Head Coach of the North All Star Team. Coach Curtis also serves on the Indiana Football Hall of Fame board and the Moose Krause Scholarship Chapter Board. Bart and his wife of 20 years, Sarah, have three children currently attending Mishawaka schools. Mike and Hannah are at the high school and their youngest, Brian, attends Beiger. Bart holds the position of Attendance Coordinator at Mishawaka High School. (Make sure your kids arrive to school on time or you might get to talk to Bart about something other than football.)
